Here's a template to get you started:
Dear [Friend],
It has come to my attention that I have some unconscious behaviors and patterns that are toxic, dysfunctional, and unloving. In order to transform this, I am taking part in Alchemist Theatre's "Shadow Challenge 2019" (https://www.alchemistmovement.org/shadow.html).
For this, I am asking those who know me the best to please tell me a few character traits or behaviors that I exhibit, but may be blind to, that you believe are not serving my highest good. I will be using this information to heal and grow. My intention is not to defend, deny, or engage. I will simply receive the information in quiet gratitude, and I'll be taking it into Alchemist's "Integration Workshop" on 10/26 for processing.
If you have specific examples of each piece of feedback, that would be great. Otherwise, just generic feedback about what you see in me would be most appreciated. If you don't want to participate, feel free to ignore this email.
I've designed an anonymous feedback survey, and will not know who sent in replies, here is the link: [xxxx]
I love you and appreciate your presence in my life.
Sincerely,
[Your name]

Just because someone claims something, doesn't means it's true. You will know there's *something* there for you if hearing/reading it triggers you. This is where the importance of the Workshop comes in, as we will help you navigate the info you receive.
|
Don't allow the annoyance of someone projecting their own stuff onto you stop you from hearing the feedback. Seeing something in other people that we can't see in ourselves is part of the metaphysics of shadow work. Release the ego and just allow yourself to look in the mirror.
|
A majority of people, especially those who don't practice this type of self-reflection, will be triggered by this exercise, and may attempt to sugarcoat or bypass their feedback. They may even become angry at you. This is *their* stuff, and also, you are not better than they.
